Filming in Ireland / Guide To Filming in Dublin /
Public Liability Insurance
Public Liability Insurance covers the legal responsibilities of your production should your activities cause injury to a third party or damage to property. You will need to have this cover to film in any location in Dublin.
The amount of cover that will be required will vary depending on the size of your production, where you are filming and what the filming entails. You can check with the location owners or the relevant Dublin Local Authority to find out exactly how much cover is required.
As a general rule you will be required to have a minimum of €6.4m cover for street filming, and the Local Authority will generally need to be specifically named on the Policy Certificate.
To be insured by an Irish insurance company the production company must be based in Ireland. If you are not an Irish filmmaker you will need to get insurance through a broker in the country in which you are based. You will need to get this document translated into English.
