TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL Scoops Award at Monte Carlo TV Festival

The Irish/Italian mini-series TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL which filmed in Dublin for 12 weeks last year and was funded by Bord Scannán na hEireann/the Irish Film Board has picked up the award for Outstanding European Producer in the drama category at the Monte Carlo TV Festival.  The prize went to the Italian production company De Angelis Productions and the series Executive Producers Guido De Angelis, Nicola De Angelis and Ciaran Donnelly who also directed the series. 

Based on an idea by Fabrizio del Noce, and written by Matthe Faulk, Mark Skeet and Stefano Voltaggio, TITANIC: BLOOD & STEEL focuses on the designing and building of the Titanic before it's fateful first voyage.  It filmed last year in Serbia and Dublin using locations such as the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin Castle and Earlsfort Terrace. 

The 100-strong cast includes international names such as Neve Campbell (Scream, Wild Things), Chris Noth (Sex and the City, The Good Wife), Kevin Zegers (Dawn of the Dead) and Derek Jacobi (Gladiator) along with a strong Irish cast including Liam Cunningham (The Guard, The Wind That Shakes The Barley), Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones), Michael McElhatton (Perrier's Bounty, Spin the Bottle) and Martin McCann (Killing Bono) to name but a few.

Produced in Ireland by Paul Myler for EPOS Films with the Italian DeAngelis Group, the 12-part series had an Irish budget of €12 million and created approx 200 jobs for cast and crew.  Picture and CGI post production took place at Windmill Lane, while sound post production was completed at Ardmore Studios.

The series has already broadcast in Italy, while the US rights have been bought by Lionsgate.

The Monte Carlo TV Festival was established in 1961 to recognize television as an exceptional means of bringing cultures together and enhancing their respective knowledge.  Other winners at this years festival included Game of Thrones and Desperate Housewives.
