20th Mar 2012
The Broadway musical version of the Oscar-winning Irish film directed by John Carney and written by Enda Walsh has won rave reviews on its opening weekend at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre in New York City.

Featuring a score by the films stars Glen Hansard and Market Irglova with several new songs, the ONCE  musical includes the hit song Falling Slowly which won the Best Original Song Academy Award in 2008 and stars Steve Kazee and Cristin Miloti in the lead roles.

Hollywood Reporter said "Once is a small-scale but warmly affecting show, crafted with profound respect for the power of music"

New York Times said "Once uses song and dance in a way I've never experienced in an American musical".

Other critics called the intimate musical a "gem of a show", "a knockout", "gorgeously crafted" and "the sweetest and most romantic show on Broadway".  There are already talks of a world tour and likely Tony Award nominations.
