Cherrybomb Exclusively Released on DVD this Weekend
The Irish feature Cherrybomb directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn will be exclusively available to rent on DVD from Friday 6th August.
Cherrybomb tells the story of three teenagers who embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when they discover the wild ride they've set in motion won't let them get off. The film stars Robert Sheehan (Misfits, Summer of the Flying Saucer), Rupert Grint (Harry Potter series), Kimberley Nixon (Wild Child) and James Nesbitt (Outcast, Five Minutes of Heaven).
Written by Daragh Carville, Cherrybomb was produced by Michael Casey, Mark Huffman and Brian Kirk for Generator Entertainment, Octagon Films, and Green Park Films. It was officially selected to screen in the Generation 14Plus section at the renowned Berlinale Film Festival in February last year and has also screened at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. The film was co-funded by the IFB, Northern Ireland Screen, BAI and BBC NI.
Other Irish features which are currently also on release on DVD include Ian Fitzgibbon's fast-paced thriller Perrier's Bounty, starring Cillian Murphy, Brendan Gleeson and Jim Broadbent, Stephen Burke's slapstick wedding comedy Happy Ever Afters, and Zonad, directed by John and Kieran Carney and starring Simon Delaney.
Cherrybomb is exclusively available to rent in Xtra Vision from Friday 6th August and will be released in all other stores from 23rd August.
