IFB Funded MILO to Open Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam

31st Aug 2012
The Irish-Dutch co-production MILO written and directed by brothers Berend and Roel Boorsma will open the 26th Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam on October 17th.

The debut feature from the brothers which shot in Dublin and Wicklow last year centres around Milo, a 10-year-old boy who is unaware that he suffers from a rare genetic disease.  He lives a life rigidly controlled by his parents who striving for wealth and success are set on keeping Milo's shameful condition a secret.    It stars Lorcan Bonner, Stuart Graham (Hunger, Shadow Dancer), Jer O'Leary (In America, My Left Foot), Laura Vasiliu (4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days), Charlotte Bradley (Titanic Blood & Steel, Veronic Guerin) and Dolf de Vries (Black Book).

The Cinekid Festival is the largest international film, television and new media festival for children aged 4 to 14.

MILO was produced by San Fu Maltha of Fu Works and Martina Niland for Samson Films with funding from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), Netherlands Film Fund and Video Film Express.
