Irish Screen America and NYU to Host New York Premiere of Brendan Gleeson-Narrated Doc, Atlantic
Risteard Ó Domhnaill’s award-winning documentary, Atlantic, will receive its New York premiere on Friday, 24 March in a screening presented by Irish Screen America and the NYU Center for Media, Culture and History (CMCH).
Atlantic, which is narrated by Emmy-winning Irish actor Brendan Gleeson, follows the fortunes of three small fishing communities―in Ireland, Norway and Newfoundland―as they struggle to maintain their way of life in the face of mounting economic and ecological challenges. Filmed in some of the most remote and breath-taking locations in the North Atlantic, and at close quarters with some of the sea’s most captivating characters, the documentary brings to the fore three very intimate stories from the global resource debate.
Atlantic won Best Irish Documentary at ADIFF 2016; most recently gaining rave audience reviews when it screened on RTÉ in December 2016. The documentary is Ó Domhnaill’s follow-up to his critically acclaimed 2010 doc, The Pipe.
The documentary was produced by Scannáin Inbhear Teo with support from the IFB. For more info on the Irish Screen America and NYU screening of Atlantic, click here.
