Irish Short The Basket Case Wins Award at Boston Irish Film Festival

20th Nov 2008 The Irish short film THE BASKET CASE, written and directed by Owen O'Neill, picked up the Best Short Fiction Award at this year's Boston Irish Film Festival this week. Produced by Katie Holly of Blinder Films the film was described by the adjudicators as ‘a beautiful and memorable film'.

Starring Declan Conlon, Marcella Plunkett, Simon Delaney and Deirdre O'Kane, the film is about a man's love for his dying wife - and the lengths he will go to in order to prevent being parted from her. The Basket Case is a dark, twisted, comic tale of love, devotion, death and debt, set in small town Ireland.  The film was made under the Short Cuts scheme, funded by the Irish Film Board and RTE.  DOP was Donal Gilligan and Production Designer was Susie Cullen.
