Silence wins Best Feature award at Irish Film New York

9th Oct 2013

Silence, the acclaimed feature film by Pat Collins of Harvest Films, starring Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde, has just won the award for Best Feature at the Irish Film New York festival.

Produced by Tina Moran and co-written by Sharon Whooley, Pat Collins and Eoghan Mac Giolla Bhríde, Silence follows Eoghan, a sound recordist who returns to Ireland after fifteen years to record places free from man-made noise. The film also won the Michael Dwyer Discover Award at JDIFF 2012.

"It's an attempt to capture the voices in the ether, the historical connection between people and the land that hosts them. . . . A unique piece of work." —Wendy Ide, The Times (UK) ****

"Starkly beautiful, deliberately confounding." —Donald Clarke, The Irish Times

Silence was supported by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, RTÉ, BAI and MEDIA, and released by Element Films in Ireland and New Wave Films in the UK. New Wave Films will bring it out on DVD in the UK in November 2013.
