The National Film School Launches 2012 Animation Academy
The National Film School at IADT has announced its first professional summer Animation Academy, in association with Boulder Media, and with the support of Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board.
Tailored to the needs of the thriving Irish animation sector, the 2012 NFS Animation Academy - Introduction to Adobe Flash 5.5/Professional Animation - will be a bridging course between college and industry for 20 participants.
Donald Taylor Black, Creative Director of the National Film School at IADT, said "We're absolutely delighted to deepen our strong links with the animation industry in Ireland, by introducing the NFS Academy. Rob Cullen and Boulder have been extremely enthusiastic about this project from the beginning and other companies have assured us of their co-operation in the years to come. Thanks also to the Irish Film Board for their continued support to The National Film School".
It will take place over four weeks from Monday, 9 July until Friday 3 August on IADT's Dun Laoghaire campus. The NFS Animation Academy will take the existing skills, strengths, and interests of recent undergraduates, graduates at ordinary and honours degree level, as well as animators currently working in the industry who want to re-train or redirect their career into a more specialised industry focus of Flash Animation. It will cost €300.00 per person.
Tutors will include: Robert Cullen, Creative director - Boulder Media; Paul O'Flanagan, Animation Director Boulder Media; Gillian Comerford, Animation Director Boulder Media; and Damien Byrne, Animator and part of the Animation team at IADT.

About The National Film School
The National Film School (NFS) at IADT was launched in November 2003. It is a centre of excellence for undergraduate and post-graduate studies in Animation, Film, Television and Digital Media. IADT is the only Irish full member of the Centre International de Liaison des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision (CILECT), the International Association of Film and Television Schools; and the CILECT regional association, GEECT, the Groupement Européen des Ecoles de Cinéma et de Télévision.
About Boulder Media
Boulder Media is an Irish animation company based in Dublin.
