Two Irish Films Screening At Renowned Sundance Festival This Week

18th Jan 2013 The Irish documentary THE SUMMIT and short IRISH FOLK FURNITURE are screening at Sundance this week.

THE SUMMIT directed by Nick Ryan is the third Irish documentary in the past four years to be selected for the World Cinema Documentary Competition following His and Hers directed by Ken Wardrop in 2010 and Ian Palmer's Knuckle in 2011.

Written by Academy Award® winner Mark Monroe and executively produced by Academy Award® winners John Battsek and Simon Chinn THE SUMMIT attempts to understand what happened on the day that became known as the most tragic in modern mountaineering history when 11 of the 22 climbers attempting to get to the summit of K2 were either killed or vanished within the space of 48 hours.

IRISH FOLK FURNITURE is a charming animated tale bringing new life to the culture and social history of Irish farmhouse furniture. The short is directed by Tony Donoghue and produced by Cathal Black under the IFB 'Frameworks' animated short film scheme and can be viewed online (click on the link on the side of this page)
