Underground Cinema Film Festival Takes Place This Weekend in Dun Laoghaire
The 3rd Underground Cinema Film Festival in Dun Laoghaire kicks off tomorrow Thursday 13th and runs until Sunday 16th September and promises a weekend of screenings, panel discussions and free workshops.
Thursday will see a focus on Women in Film and will showcase a selection of feature films and shorts produced and directed by some of the most talented women in the Irish film industry. Some of the films to screen over the weekend include Marian Quinn's 32A which stars Aidan Quinn and Orla Brady, Carmel Winter's SNAP, Rebecca Daly's THE OTHER SIDE OF SLEEP and Kirsten Sheridan's latest feature DOLLHOUSE, all of which were funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board.
Along with the screenings there will be a number of discussions with panellists including Kirsten Sheridan, Edwina Forkin, Fiona Ashe and Orla Murphy.
Other special guests over the weekend include Jack Sargeant from the Revelations Film Festival in Australia, and writers/directors/producers Ferdia McAnna, Vinny Murphy, Colin Bateman, Ciaran Creagh and Bernard McLaverty.
There will also be a Paul Fraser retrospective which includes a screening MY BROTHERS.
The Underground Cinema Film Festival takes place Thursday 13th - Sunday 16th September 2012 in Dun Laoghaire.
