Irish Doc 'Hold on Tight' Continues Festival Run with Screenings at Three US Festivals This Month

15th Jun 2012
Irish short documentary HOLD ON TIGHT directed by Anna Rodgers, will be screening at three festivals in US over the coming days. First off is Frameline, the world's largest lesbian, gay and transgender film festival which takes place in San Francisco. It will then go on to screen in the acclaimed Palm Springs Shortfest and the Los Angeles Film Festival.

HOLD ON TIGHT delves into the public and private spaces of several lesbian and gay couples in Ireland, and examines how the public displays of affection are not always the simplest choice for same sex couples.

Winner of last year's Absolut Gaze Filmmaker Award, the documentary is currently nominated for a Human Rights award at the ICCL Film Festival. The shortlist will be the subject of an exclusive Gala Awards screening at the Light House Cinema on the evening of 28 June 2012, where the Jury will announce the winning film.

The film has had a successful film festival circuit having screened at festivals across the globe including the Sebastopol Documentary Film Festival, Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, Byron Bay International Film Festival, Ashland Independent Film Festival and at IRIS Prize Festival where it received a Highly Commended accolade.

It also broadcast on PBS in Northern California this month and has been used as an advocacy piece with a human rights organisation in Bosnia and Herzegovina where LGBT rights are severely undermined.

Produced by Zlata Filipovic for Crossing The Line Productions, HOLD ON TIGHT was funded by the Absolut Gaze Filmmaker award, Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and Filmbase.   Offers of distribution are currently being finalised for distribution in Ireland and the UK and Canada and the US.
