IFB Funding Programmes / Production /
Animation - Television
About the Funding
This funding is for animated TV series originated and creatively led by Irish talents - directors, writers, producers, animators - the content of which will generally (but not invariably) express Irish culture in some way, and the practical management of which is primarily in Irish hands.
Funding under this programme is generally (but not invariably) provided by BSÉ/IFB for the making of projects predominantly in English or Irish, or a combination of the two.
With an increase in the quantity and quality of Irish animation work in recent years, standards have become high and the sector is extremely competitive. Since this part of the industry is demonstrably thriving, producers applying to BSÉ/IFB on behalf of animation projects should expect to have to make a strong case for needing BSÉ/IFB support.
Who Can Apply
BSÉ/IFB funding for Animation Production (TV) is available to Irish producers with an animated television single or series they wish to produce, with clear access to the necessary rights in any material that is to be adapted for the screen and an agreement in place with the screenwriter, director and principle animator.
