Screenplay Development Loans

Screenplay Development Loans enable establised writers, writing teams or writer & director teams to prepare the screenplay for a live action or animated feature film project.

About the Funding 

Screenplay Development Loans support an established writer, teams of writers, or writer and director team to write a live action or animated feature film project from treatment/outline or first draft stage. Awards of up to €12,000 for an individual or up to €16,000 for teams of two or more individuals are available.

Development funding is provided by the IFB for the making of films predominantly in English or Irish, or a combination of the two. 

Who Can Apply 

Screenplay Development Loans are available to Established Talent defined as Irish (born or resident in the Republic of Ireland) individual writers, teams of writers, and writer and director teams where each applicant has at least one produced feature film or TV drama (drama series, mini-series and single drama) credit. Please note that credits on serial drama or soaps, short films, theatre, radio drama etc. are not eligible.
