Summer Season of Irish Films on Setanta Comes to an End with a Weeklong Line-up of Top-Notch Films

The summer season of Irish film on Setanta comes to an end next week but promises to be a week of must-see films when you can see Emmy-winning and star of The Guard Brendan Gleeson in STUDS, Emmy-nominated actor Brían F. O'Byrne in THE FIFTH PROVENCE along with the documentary SEAVIEW and the light-hearted SHORT ORDER and GOLDFISH MEMORY.  A great mix of love stories, comic fantasy, comedy, drama and documentaries, there is truly something for everybody.

The week kicks off with Nicky Gogan and Paul Rowley's moving documentary SEAVIEW which Variety said "sparkled with poetic moments of beauty".  It tells the story of asylum seekers living inside a holding centre at a former Irish holiday camp.

You can catch the Emmy-nominated Brían F. O'Byrne in THE FIFTH PROVENCE on Tuesday.  Written and directed by Frank Stapleton and co-written by Nina Fitzpatrick, the film is a surreal comic fantasy and love story.  Brían is up for an Emmy for his role in Mildred Pierce in which he starred alongside Hollywood heavyweights Kate Winslet and Guy Pearce.

Relationships are in focus mid-week with Anthony Byrne's quirky film SHORT ORDER about food and love on Wednesday and Elizabeth Gills light-hearted GOLDFISH MEMORY about the dangers and delights of dating in contemporary Dublin on Thursday.  Goldfish Memory, which explores the comical nature of love, straight, gay and in-between has picked up numerous Audience Awards at festivals in Los Angeles, Paris and Copenhagen to name a few.

The season will close quite fittingly with Paul Mercier's STUDS, a feel-good comedy about a football team at the bottom of their league.  It stars the Emmy-winning actor Brendan Gleeson who is riding high at the Irish box office at the moment with The Guard along with his son Domhnall.
