Irish Documentary KNUCKLE Now Available on Volta and Still Screening in IFI
Ian Palmer's powerful documentary KNUCKLE which proved a hit at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year is now available to stream or download from the Volta website while it continues its run at the IFI in Dublin.Picked up by HBO for remake rights, and sold to major territories around the world, the film follows an epic 12-year journey into the world of an Irish traveller community and their brutal bare-knuckle fighting lives. Chronicling a history of violent feuding between rival families, the story focuses on two brothers, James and Michael McDonagh, as they fight for their reputations and the honour of their family name.
KNUCKLE was produced by Teddy Leifer for Rise Films and Ian Palmer for Seafield with finance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board (IFB) and BBC Storyville. Screen Daily said that KNUCKLE was "Impressively and compulsively shot.... a fascinating glimpse into a world kept usually very private".
