Irish Documentary ‘Children of the Revolution’ On Exclusive Cinema Release in London Ahead of DVD Release On September 5th
London audiences will get a chance to see the powerful Irish documentary CHILDREN OF THE REVOLUTION directed by Shane O'Sullivan this week as it goes on release in the Shortwave Cinema in London from August 26th. The film is then set to go on DVD release in the UK and Ireland on September 5th.The documentary tells the stories of Ulrike Meinhof and Fusako Shigenobu - revolutionary women who emerged from the student movements in Germany and Japan in 1968 to become the leading female "terrorists" of their time. Fuelled by the killing in Vietnam, they set out to destroy capitalist power through world revolution.
The film premiered at the prestigious International Documentary Festival Amsterdam and has been receiving critical acclaim since.
Shot in Tokyo, Beirut, Jordan and Germany the film was produced by Shane O'Sullivan for Transmission Films and was funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann / the Irish Film Board (IFB), WDR and MEDIA.
The film has sold to several international territories through distributor Electric Sky.
