Catch Free Irish Short Film Screenings in Filmbase on Culture Night September 23rd

A selection of IFB-funded short films will be showcased for free on Culture Night during a jam-packed evening of theatre, exhibitions, talks, music, readings, dance and literally events which will take place in over 150 venues across Dublin city on Friday 23rd.

Scheduled in the line-up for Filmbase, Temple Bar, is an exciting mix of live-action, animation and short documentaries including the Oscar-nominated Granny O'Grimm's Sleeping Beauty, directed by Nicky Phelan, the short doc Bye Bye Now directed by Aideen O'Sullivan and Ross Whittaker as well as David O'Sullivan's colourful musical Moore Street Masala.

Also set to screen are Mike Ahern's Mr. Foley, Vincent Gallagher's Signs, Peter McDonalds Pentecost along with some Short Shorts which premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July: Elaine Gallagher's An Rinceoir, Orla Walsh's Riders to the Sea, Downpour directed by Claire Dix and Washed Up Love directed by Dylan Cotter.

Culture Night provides the platform to celebrate our distinct cultural and creative resources which are a source of great national pride and an essential element of our national competitiveness in globalised world. Streets, venues and open-spaces will come alive with a rich cultural offering of electric atmosphere, colour, music, performance and workshops providing people with an opportunity to reacquaint or introduce themselves to a vast and rich cultural offering. 

The short films can be viewed for free in Filmbase, Temple Bar on Friday 23rd September with screenings on ground level all evening and screenings in the basement space from 9.30pm - 10.30pm.
