Irish Documentary ‘The Pipe’ Picks up Further Prestigious International Awards in India and France
The Irish feature documentary THE PIPE, which was directed by Risteard Ó Domhnaill has been awarded the ‘Green Rose Award for the film which gives Global Message' in the Jaipur International Film Festival in India. This follows on from it scooping the Grand Prix at the Ile-de-France International Environmental Film Festival in Paris earlier this month.
THE PIPE tells the story of a community tragically divided, and how they deal with a pipe that could bring economic prosperity or destruction of a way of life shared for generations.
Produced by Rachel Lysaght for Underground Films and funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board and TG4, the film is no stranger to accolades. It has won a host of awards all over the world including Best Documentary Film in the Galway Film Fleadh, the Foyle Film Festival , the Boston Irish Film Festival, the Wurzburg Film Festival and the Rhode Island International Film Festival to name but a few. In 2011 it picked up the George Morrison Feature Documentary Award at the Irish Film and Television Awards (IFTA's).
THE PIPE will screen at the Irish Film week in Beirut this Sunday the 2nd March at 6pm and it will also screen at the International Human Rights Film Festival in Paris on the 9th and 11th of March.
THE PIPE is now available on DVD nationwide.
