'Love Irish Cinema' - A Celebration of Irish Oscar Short Films at Screen Cinema

To celebrate the achievements of Irish short films at the Academy Awards® over the last number of years, the Screen Cinema in Dublin will present a selection of Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated Irish short films this Wednesday 14th March.

Short films funded by BSÉ/IFB have received huge profile at the Academy Awards over the last ten years, receiving a total of eight nominations, including Martin McDonagh's SIX SHOOTER which took home the award for Best Live Action Short in 2006.  Terry George's THE SHORE, which was financed by Northern Ireland Screen, Tourism Ireland and Lough Shore Investments, scooped the same accolade at this year's cermoney. 

Other Irish titles to receive a nod are PENTECOST, written and directed by Peter McDonald, Micheal Creagh's THE CRUSH, GRANNY O'GRIMM'S SLEEPING BEAUTY, written and performed by Kathleen O'Rourke and directed by Nicky Phelan, Cathal Gaffney's GIVE UP YER AUL SINS, Juanita Wilson's THE DOOR, Steff Green's NEW BOY and Ruairí Robinson's FIFTY PERCENT GREY which have all received Oscar nominations.

Love Irish Cinema, Oscar Shorts will take place on Wednesday March 14th at 8.20pm. Tickets are available from The Screen box office and www.screencinema.ie
