Irish Documentary Living Colour to screen on RTÉ1 Tonight.
Living Colour a 52-minute observational documentary film, which was written and directed by Éamonn Little, is set to screen on RTÉ 1 tonight at 10:15pm
Living Colour is an intimate portrayal of a collective of extraordinary and idiosyncratic artists, shedding new light on old questions about the nature of art and artistic talent. It tells the story of an abstract watercolour painter who takes three and a half minutes to climb into a van, a chatterbox stone carver with the shakes, a woman who colours her dreams, a precision ink-drawer who stares into fires, a diminutive sage who makes politically satirical animations and the motley collective of other artists with special needs with whom they share a studio. It is a charming, moving and hilarious reflection on the deeply human need to make art.
Filmed over a 12 month period in the K.C.A.T studio in Callan, Co. Kilkenny, director Éamon Little gained unique intimate access to the studio and the artists. In this film the audience is taken on a journey into the creative processes of five artists; Lorna, Karl, Andrew, Declan and Francis, as they create paintings, sculptures and animations in an atmosphere free from ego.
Produced by Martha O'Neill and Adrian McCarthy for Wildfire Films with finance from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/ the Irish Film Board, the documentary has received rave reviews:
"Living Colour is a wonderful documentary ... its moments of humour, insight and joy come together to define this uplifting and enlightening piece of cinema and its extraordinary tale of people communicating through art." (Film Ireland)
"Every now and then a programme comes along that blows our minds. It can be a drama, comedy or factual-based show, but what it must cover is something extraordinary. We're pleased to say that one turns up this week, and here it is. Living Colour is a documentary that will live long in the memory thanks to the people who appear in it." (The Corkman Newspaper)
