IRISH ANIMATORS WIN AT THE CHILDREN'S BAFTA AWARDS 2012
Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) would like to congratulate Jam Media and Boulder Media on their recent BAFTA awards. Jam Media picked up their accolade for their series ‘Roy’ which tells the story of Roy O’Brien, the animated son of a real family. Speaking about the award Jam Media’s CEO John Rice said “The competition was stiff and this award proves that the series and the character of Roy really seems to resonate with viewers in the UK, Ireland and beyond" Directed by Alan Shannon and starring Simon Delaney and Scott Graham, the series was born out of the hugely successful Frameworks short “Badly Drawn Roy” and received production funding from the IFB for the first series.
Boulder Media also had success at the Award Ceremony on Sunday night winning in the animation category for their series ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’. IFB Chief Executive James Hickey commenting on their success said “These awards reflect the high quality of work produced by Jam Media and Boulder Media and honour the great creative talent working in the Irish animation industry. We commend the endeavours of these companies and congratulate them on this success."
