Irish Short Animation 'Here to Fall' Nominated for a BAFTA Award
The Bord Scannán na hÉireann / Irish Film Board (IFB) funded short animated film HERE TO FALL directed by Kris Kelly has been nominated for a BAFTA in the ‘Best Short Animation' category this morning.The short film has already picked up the Best Animation Award at the Galway Fleadh and the Darklight festival last year and tells the story of a young girl who received a call from her father and is set through a frantic journey through a chaotic world.
HERE TO FALL was funded under the IFB Frameworks short film fund. HERE TO FALL joins a long list of successful shorts to have emerged from Frameworks including BADLY DRAWN ROY which was developed into the BAFTA winning series ROY produced by JAM MEDIA, and the Oscar nominated GRANNY O'GRIMM'S SLEEPING BEAUTY produced by Brown Bag Films. HERE TO FALL was scripted by Kelly and Evelyn McGrath who also produced with Blacknorth Studios.
Irish cinematographer Seamus McGarvey has also been nominated for a BAFTA for his work on Anna Karenina.
The IFB funded film WHAT RICHARD DID, directed by Lenny Abrahamson dominated the IFTA awards, announced this morning. Other IFB funded IFTA nominees include GOOD VIBRATIONS, DEATH OF A SUPERHERO, GRABBERS, SHADOW DANCER, SILENCE, JUMP and SANCTUARY amongst others.
