New Irish Cinema @ JDIFF 2013
Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board are proud to be the official industry partners of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival which kicks off this Thursday 14th February and runs until 24th February.
A great mix of Irish features, documentaries and short films will once again screen during the festival offering audiences a choice of different types of films to watch from love stories to laugh out loud comedy, from political thriller to fantasy sci-fi and from action to horror and everything in between.
The eagerly awaited comedy THE HARDY BUCKS MOVIE will have its world premiere on Monday 18th and will be attended by writer/director Mike Cockayne and the cast. The feature BLACK ICE directed by Johnny Gogan will also have its world premiere at the festival on Wednesday 20th.
Hot from its win at the IFTA's this weekend, the documentary MEA MAXIMA CULPA, SILENCE IN THE HOUSE OF GOD will screen on Friday 15th while audiences will have a chance to see THE SUMMIT, which wowed audiences at the Sundance Film Festival last month where it picked up the prize for Editing in the World Cinema Documentary section, on Sunday 24th.
Dublin audiences will also have the opportunity to catch Irish films which have screened at some of the top festivals around the world including the dramas BABYGIRL, JUMP and MILO, the intense love story KELLY + VICTOR, the political thriller CALL GIRL, the horror THE MOTH DIARIES and the documentaries THE PERVERTS GUIDE TO IDEOLOGY and THE ROAD.
Other Irish films on the menu include THE GOOD MAN starring Aidan Gillen, the light-hearted sci-fi EARTHBOUND and the documentaries WHERE I AM and GET THE PICTURE.
There is also a chance to see a selection of the latest IFB funded short films on the big screen on Wednesday 20th. The mix of animated and live action films includes Tony Donoghue's IRISH FOLK FURNITURE which won the Best Animation Award at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
