Babygirl and Get the Picture Win Awards at JDIFF

Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board funded BABYGIRL and GET THE PICTURE both won prizes at the 11th Jameson Dublin International Film Festival which closed this weekend.

BABYGIRLwritten and directed by Macdara Vallely was awarded the Best Irish Feature by the DUBLIN FILM Critics Circle while GET THE PICTURE directed by Cathy Pearson won Best Irish Documentary.

BABYGIRL tells the story of Bronx teenager Lena who for as long as she can remember has watched her mom Lucy squander her life on a series of deadbeat men. When Victor, her mom's latest boy toy, starts hitting on Lena, she sets up a trap to expose Victor for the creep he is... but the plan backfires.

Produced by David Collins, Paul Miller and Gigi Dement for Samson Films and Escape Pictures, BABYGIRL was funded by the IFB and Werner Films.

GET THE PICTURE is a documentary about legendary picture editor John J. Morris. Produced by Noel Pearson and Cathy Pearson for Ferndale Films it was made with funding from the IFB.
