Character Creation and Development Masterclass with Troy Saliba, Supervising Animator on 'Oz The Great and Powerful'
To tie in with this week's release of Sam Raimi's Oz The Great and the Powerful, the IFI in conjunction with the Irish School of Animation and with the support of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, has organised a day of discussion and masterclasses on character creation and development. Special guest on the day will be Supervising Animator on Oz The Great and the Powerful Troy Saliba (Anastasia, Titan, A.E).
Looking at character design and development in live action, animations, hybrid features and TV shows, a panel discussion comprising representatives from animation, filmmaking and screenwriting will consider characters they have created/designed and/or developed from idea through to realisation. Panellists will include Jason Tammemagi (Geronimo Productions), Bronagh O'Hanlon (Brown Bag), Nicky Gogan (Still Films), Paul Bolger (Pillarstone Productions), Lindsay Jane Sedgwick (writer of Punky), Ciaran Foy (Citadel) and Gareth Lee (Irish School of Animation).
The panel discussion will be followed by a masterclass with Troy Saliba who will talk about the various characters he has worked with. Troy will then introduce a screening of Disney's Oz The Great and the Powerful (3D) which stars James Franco, Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz and Mila Kunis.
