GOOD VIBRATIONS and KELLY + VICTOR set for SXSW
GOOD VIBRATIONS and KELLY + VICTOR will screen at the renowned SXSW Festival in Texas which kicks off this week.
GOOD VIBRATIONS directed by Lisa Barros D'Sa and Glenn Leyburn will screen as part of the ‘Narrative Spotlight' of the festival. Terri Hooley is a radical, rebel and music-lover in 1970s Belfast, who opens a record shop calling it "Good Vibrations". Through it he discovers a compelling voice of resistance in the city's nascent underground punk scene. Galvanising the young musicians into action, he becomes the unlikely leader of a motley band of kids and punks who join him in his mission to create a new community, an alternative Ulster, to bring his city back to life.
The film picked up the Best Irish Feature prize at the Galway Film Fleadh and had its international premiere at the prestigious Karlovy Vary Festival last year. It will be released in Irish cinemas next month.
Kieran Evans' KELLY & VICTOR is a love story adapted from Niall Griffiths acclaimed novel and will screen as part of the ‘Visions' strand at the festival. Starring Antonia Campbell Hughes (Albert Nobbs, The Other Side of Sleep) and Julian Morris (Pretty Little Liars), the film is a haunting, candid depiction of a young couple embarking on a passionate love affair. It was included in last month's JDIFF line-up and also was officially selected for the BFI London Film Festival last year.
SXSW renowned for discovering new talent and trailblazers will run from March 8th - 17th 2013.
