‘Under The Hood’ to have Dublin Premiere in IFI on July 7th

Irish documentary UNDER THE HOOD directed by Mark Byrne and Rob Dennis will have its Dublin premiere on Sunday 7th July at the Irish Film Institute.

In Belarus, some battle for democracy, social justice and civil rights while others struggle just to survive. UNDER THE HOOD brings us on a journey through a country where the secret police is still known a the KGB and gathering in public to do nothing is considered a crime. Shot in conditions of secrecy, the films takes us from the protests and secret opposition meetings of the capital, Minsk, to the horse-drawn carts and hand-tilled fields of the countryside. The stories heard along the way remind us how close Belarus is to the rest of Europe - and how very far away.

The screening will take place at 1pm on Sunday 7th July in the IFI with the directors in attendance.

The film was produced by Jeremiah Cullinane, Bartolomeo Dibenedetto, Rasa Miskinyte for Planet Korda Pictures and ERA Film with the support of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, Media TV Broadcasting Fund and German Marshall Fund of the United States.
