Irish Hit Film The Hardy Bucks Available on DVD Now

For anyone who missed the hit Irish film THE HARDY BUCKS MOVIE, which was released to great success in Irish cinemas earlier this year, audiences now have the opportunity to buy or rent it on DVD.  The comedy sees a bunch of loveable slackers leave the confines of small town Irish life and head across Europe.  The crazy road trip to support the Irish team in the Euro 2012 Football Championships takes an unexpected turn after an unscheduled stop off in Amsterdam.

The film had its world premiere at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival (JDIFF) and is directed and produced by Mayo Man, Mike Cockayne who co-wrote with Gerry Greaney.  It stars Martin Maloney, Chris Tordoff, Owen Colgan, Peter Cassidy, Tom Kilgallon, Michael Salmon and Daniel Olbrychski.  Produced by Hardy Films it was funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), Universal and RTÉ.

Due to the brilliant performance of the film at the Irish box office, a sequel is now in development with the support of the Bord Scannan na hÉireann /the Irish Film Board. Speaking about the sequel a spokesperson at Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB) said

"The Irish Film Board is supporting the development of a sequel to the Hardy Bucks Movie which has the potential to become a successful franchise. The project has moved very well from the web to film and was a success at the Irish box office when it was released earlier this year.  The team behind the project are very talented and ultimately the stories they are telling are very much part of Irish culture and the Irish sense of humour. We hope that this project will go on to enjoy as much success as the last."

The sequel will continue to follow the antics the boys get up to.
