More success for the Irish animation industry: The Missing Scarf wins big at LA Shorts Fest

The Missing Scarf, an animated short that was funded through the IFB's Frameworks programme, has taken another Best Animation award following its North American premiere.

Directed by Eoin Duffy and voiced by George Takei (ex-Star Trek), The Missing Scarf was selected as 2013's Best Animation at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. Back in July, the film also took home the James Horgan Award for Best Animation at Galway Film Fleadh.

Thanks to the win in Galway, The Missing Scarf qualified to enter the Academy Awards; the LA win makes it doubly eligible for the Oscars as well as opening up entry to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTAs).

Narrated by Star Trek actor and social media powerhouse George Takei, The Missing Scarf is a black comedy that explores some of life's common fears: fear of the unknown, of failure, rejection and finally the fear of death.
