‘VFX: Script to Screen’ and Digital Biscuit both on in Dublin this week
Two exciting events focusing on innovation in the creative arts take place in Dublin this week: the final module of Screen Training Ireland’s programme ‘VFX: Script to Screen’, and Digital Biscuit, a three-day extravaganza of programmed talks, screenings, workshops and interactive exhibitions.
Designed in collaboration with awardwinning digital-effects companies Windmill Lane VFX and Screen Scene VFX, Screen Training Ireland’s innovative programme ‘VFX: Script to Screen’ focuses on developing and building new skills and talent in the European visual-effects sector. By introducing those in the industry to global leaders in the field, it aims to inspire the creative film community to push the boundaries of VFX and develop new and innovative stories for audiences globally.
Confirmed speakers for the third module, which will be held from January 23rd to 25th, include VFX supervisor Cedric Fayolle and studio head Julien Meesters of Mikros Image (France/Belgium), who will discuss Rust & Bone and Amour, and VFX supervisor Felix Berges of El Ranchito in Spain, discussing The Impossible.

The three-day event Digital Biscuit, meanwhile, will bring together creatives and innovators across new media and the digital industry from January 22nd to 24th in Dublin.
The first element of Digital Biscuit’s programme is “The Talks”, which will feature speakers like Alan Taylor, director of Thor: The Dark World; Cartoon Saloon’s Tomm Moore; Nick Meaney, CEO of Epagogix; Carlos Velasco, co-founder of Neurosketch; Jamie Wilkinson of indie-distribution revolutionaries VHX; and Joe Marks, former head of Disney Research.
As well, there will be “The Works”, a series of cutting-edge workshops from RED, ARRI (including the Irish launch of the ARRI AMIRA), Alexander Snelling, Jass Foley, and many more; and Kino-Play, a bustling, open-plan area of exhibitors, previews, demonstrations, and all kinds of cool technology from 3D projectors to the newest lenses and cameras.
