What the critics are saying about Frank:
“An off-beat and punk-spirited film.” – The Telegraph****
“A weird and wonderful musical comedy. . . . Helmer Lenny Abrahamson (Garage, Adam & Paul) puts the pic's eccentricity to good use, luring in sceptics with jokey surrealism and delivering them to a profoundly moving place.” – Variety
“A terrific and sublime experience, and strikingly original film, [that] is mandatory watching for the adventurous viewer.” – Indiewire
“The film is much like the band itself; chaotic, unpredictable, and utterly lovable. . . . Those who embrace its peculiarities will find it a rare gem of a film that defies expectations and celebrates inventiveness above all.” – Examiner.com
“Fassbender reveals a previously hidden genius for physical comedy . . . but the show belongs to Gleeson, the everyman who guides us through all this bittersweet madness.” – Empire
Frank was produced by Ed Guiney, David Barron and Stevie Lee, and executive producers are Tessa Ross, Katherine Butler, Andrew Lowe and Nigel Williams. It is an Element Pictures/Runaway Fridge production for the Irish Film Board, Film4, BFI and Protagonist Pictures. Frank was filmed in Ireland and the USA and utilised the tax incentive Section 481 in addition to Irish Film Board investment.
