Cinematographer Robbie Ryan at the National Film School lecture series on Wednesday

As part of its ongoing lecture series, which is presented in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, the National Film School (IADT) will host cinematographer Robbie Ryan (The Last Days on Mars, Philomena, Wuthering Heights) on Wednesday, February 19th from 6pm.

Robbie Ryan is one of the leading young cinematographers in Britain and Ireland. He studied at IADT when it was the Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design, and his credits include: Stephen Frears’ Philomena; Ruairí Robinson’s The Last Days on Mars; Sally Potter’s Ginger & Rosa; Ken Loach’s The Angels’ Share and Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, for which he won a number of awards, including the prize for Outstanding Technical Contribution at the Venice Film Festival, an Evening Standard British Film Award, and a Bronze Frog at Camerimage. He has shot two other films for Andrea Arnold: Fish Tank  and Red Road. Robbie will be interviewed by Ciarán Tanham, president of the Irish Society of Cinematographers.
