IFTA Awards: nominees to be announced this week


The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has announced that the eleventh annual Irish Film and Television Awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 at DoubleTree by Hilton, Burlington Road, Dublin, and will be broadcast live on RTÉ One at 9.35pm.

Over 300 submissions have been received for consideration in this year’s awards, and Academy members are currently viewing and voting. The shortlisted nominees will be announced this Thursday, February 27th, 2014.

The big winner in the film categories at last year’s IFTAs was the IFB-funded What Richard Did, which picked up five awards including Best Director and Best Actor (Jack Reynor). Other IFB winners on the night included Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God, Grabbers, Shadow Dancer, Pilgrim Hill, Men at Lunch (Lón sa Spéir), Good Vibrations, Ripper Street, Citadel and Loving Miss Hatto.
