Two Irish Films Included in 'Streams European Online Film Festival' on Volta
Irish feature films Out of Here and King of the Travellers have been included in the line-up of the third edition of the Streams European Online Film Festival, which has been launched by Volta. The festival will be held on the video-on-demand platform from December 1st to 31st 2014.
Out of Here, released in November, was directed by Donal Foreman and stars Fionn Walton as Ciaran, a passionate yet restless college dropout who has returned home to recession-struck Dublin after a year of travelling. Broke and living with his parents, struggling to re-connect with the ex-girlfriend that he left behind and the friends and social scene that have moved on without him, Ciaran questions whether he should stay or go – and comes to realize the difference between being stuck and being present.
Directed by Mark O’Connor, King of the Travellers was released in 2013 and follows John Paul Moorehouse (John Connors) on his destructive quest to uncover the truth about the killer of his father 12 years ago. John Paul's desire for revenge is swayed as he falls for Winnie Power, the daughter of the man he suspects killed his father. John Paul must now battle between his consuming passion for justice versus his desire to be with the woman he loves. The film also stars Peter Coonan (Love/Hate) and Michael Collins (Man About Dog) and features music from singer/songwriter Damien Dempsey.
The festival is held simultaneously across VOD platforms in eight European countries. The festival features 15 films (two per participating country and one from Germany) which have not yet received distribution outside of their national countries, in order to make available new European high-quality films to European audiences and to promote new channels for the distribution of European audiovisual works on a transnational level.
