Success for the Irish Animation Sector as 'Roy' and 'Boj' Win at Kidscreen 2015

Congratulations to Kavaleer Productions and JAM Media, who have both won awards at this year’s Kidscreen summit for their series "Roy" and "Boj" respectively. It was also announced that Kavaleer would team up with Belfast-based Indee Productions on a new series, Pablo. The Kidscreen Summit is renowned as the kid’s entertainment industry’s most important annual event, with top executives attending to take advantage of the year’s best business networking, and to engage in critical dialogue on issues that affect the industry.

Roy was the winner of the Best Non-Animated or Mixed Series prize at the Kidscreen Awards. The BAFTA-winning series is made with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board. Roy follows the adventures of Roy O'Brien, the animated son of a real family.

Boj meanwhile was a winner at the iKids Awards, which celebrates the markets best digital media products and platforms for kids. Boj was the winner of the award for Best eBook for Boj: Musical Mayhem.

Meanwhile it was announced that Kavaleer would team up with Belfast-based Indee Productions on a new series, Pablo, about an artistic boy with autism. In the live-action/animated series Pablo (52 x 11 minutes), the drawings of the five-and-half-year-old boy come to life. The young protagonist sets out on adventures in this art world of imagination, which helps him make sense of the challenges he faces every day in the real world. The partnership will see Indee Productions manage all pre- and post-production, as well as live-action filming, while Kavaleer will oversee the series’ animated segments.
