Zig & Zag Making a Return to Screens for 26 Episodes of New Animated TV Series

Zig & Zag, the beloved alien puppet twins from RTÉ’s The Den and Channel 4’s The Big Breakfast, are set to return to TV in a new animated series.

In partnership with RTÉjr and CBBC; Double Z Enterprises, Flickerpix and Jam Media have received the green light for 26 x 11 minute episodes for the animated Zig & Zag series, which will make its debut in 2016.

Originally from the Planet Zog, the alien brothers have set themselves up in a half spaceship/half house in the ‘burbs. ZIG & ZAG will take young viewers along with them on their hilarious adventures as the crazy pair attempt to experience everything planet Earth has to offer.

Speaking on the announcement, RTÉjr Channel Controller, Sheila de Courcy said: “With lots of exciting new animation coming to RTÉjr this year and next it’s a particular delight to see ZIG & ZAG: the animated series finally getting into production! RTÉjr viewers’ parents grew up with the original alien brothers and I know that Double Z, Flickerpix and Jam Media are going to replicate the fun and mayhem for children today in what’s shaping up to be a super series for 2016.”

The series is produced with support from Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board, The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen and is distributed by JAM Media.
