Newport Beach Film Festival to Showcase Irish Cinema this Sunday

On Sunday, April 26th, 2015 the 16th annual Newport Beach Film Festival will present its Irish Spotlight, an evening celebration of Celtic cinema and culture.   The event will feature the Regional Premiere of the highly anticipated Irish film, Gold (2014), followed by a festive post screening reception.

Gold is an off-beat indie comedy that tells the story of former psychiatric patient Ray who returns to his home town in semi-rural Ireland to see his dying father and meet his teenage daughter Abbie (Maisie Williams, Game of Thrones) who he abandoned years ago, along with her mother, Alice.  Despite his good intentions trials and tribulations ensue, but all hope is not lost as Ray holds on to the small triumphs that keep him going.  Gold is directed by Niall Heery and stars James Nesbitt, Maisie Williams, David Wilmot and Kerry Condon.

"The Festival continues a proud tradition of presenting the very best in Irish Cinema. We are honored to host the Regional Premiere of Gold. The strong performances, convincing characterization and just the right amount of comic relief will lure you into the world of these characters and make you feel as though you are part of the drama." stated Gregg Schwenk, CEO of the Newport Beach Film Festival.

The Spotlight film, Gold, will screen on Sunday, April 26th, 2015 at 5:30pm at Edwards Big Newport (300 Newport Center Drive in Newport Beach, CA 92660). The post-screening celebration will take at Muldoon's Irish Pub (545 Newport Center Dr., Newport Beach, CA 92660)

The post-event will feature music and hosted hors d'oeuvres.
