Frank, Patrick’s Day and Noble Amongst the Winners at this Year’s IFTA Awards Ceremony

The winners of the 2015 IFTA Awards for Film and Drama were unveiled last night in a ceremony in Dublin's Mansion House, with films funded by Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board amongst the winners, including Song of the Sea, Patrick's Day, Frank and many more.

Sarah Greene was the winner of the Irish Film Board Rising Star award. Past recipients of the award include Jamie Dornan, Michael Fassbender and Saoirse Ronan. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Oscar®-winning director Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father, The Boxer).

Song of the Sea was the winner of the Best Film award. Cartoon Saloon's animated feature, which was nominated for an Academy Award® earlier this year, will be released in Irish cinemas in July.

The acclaimed feature Frank was the recipient of three awards: Lenny Abrahamson took home the award for Best Director, Domhnall Gleeson received the award for Best Supporting Actor while James Mather won the award for Best Director of Photography.

Patrick's Day also received three awards: Best Script Film went to writer/director Terry McMahon, the Best Lead Actor Film award went to Berlinale Shooting Stars recipient Moe Dunford while Hugh Fox, Nikki Moss, & Ken Galvin won the award for Best Sound.

Both best Actress in Film prizes were awarded for the film Noble - Best Lead Actress went to Deirdre O'Kane while Supporting Actress went to Sarah Greene. Both stars played the role of Christina Noble, at different ages.

Two IFB-funded documentaries picked up awards on the night. The George Morrison Feature Documentary award was given to Christina Noble: In a House That Ceased to Bewhile Best Editing went to Emer Reynolds for One Million Dubliners.

The short film awards also went to IFB-funded shorts: the Best Animated Short award went to Somewhere Down the Line from Cartoon Saloon, while the Best Short Film prize was snapped up by Dave Tynan's Rockmount.

The award for Best Original Score went to Stephen McKeon for his work on John Boorman'sQueen and Country.

The TV categories were dominated by Love/Hate, which won the awards for Best Drama,Best Script Drama (Stuart Carolan) and Best Lead Actress (Charlie Murphy). The television acting categories were won by Aidan Gillen (Best Lead Actor DramaCharlie), Stephen Rea (Best Supporting Actor DramaThe Honourable Woman) and Aisling Franciosi (Best Supporting Actress DramaThe Fall). The Best Director Drama award went to Ciarán Donnelly for Vikings.

The design awards were won by Lorna Marie Mugan (Costume DesignPeaky Blinders), Tom McInerney & Dee Corcoran (M.A.C. Make-Up & HairVikings) and John Paul Kelly (Production DesignThe Theory of Everything).

The awards in the International categories went to Boyhood (International Film), Eddie Redmayne (International ActorThe Theory of Everything) and Julianne Moore (International ActressStill Alice).
