Irish/UK Co-Production, Moon Dogs, Released This Friday, 1 September

Moon Dogs, an Irish/UK co-production, directed by multi BAFTA-nominated Welsh director, Philip John, will be released in UK and Irish cinemas this Friday, 1st September.

Moon Dogs stars up and coming Celtic talent from Ireland, Scotland and Wales: Irish actress and talented singer/songwriter Tara Lee (The Fall, A Date for Mad Mary, Raw, Jimi: All Is by My Side, The Odd Life of Timothy Green), Welsh actor Jack Parry-Jones (Da Vinci’s Demons, Back to Zero and Scottish actor and musician Christy O’Donnell (Clique) with a stand out supporting cast featuring Dennis Lawson, Tam Dean Burn, Niall Greig Fulton, Chris Donald, Tanya Franks, Geoffrey Newland and Shauna Macdonald.

The film follows teenage step-brothers Michael (Jack Parry-Jones) And Thor (Christy O’Donnell) as they embark on a road trip, journeying from Shetland to Glasgow for very different reasons. Aspiring Irish singer Caitlin (Tara Lee) beguiles both boys and passions come a head with a music festival and an ancient Norse ceremony as the backdrop.

The title won Best International First Feature at Galway Film Fleadh 2016, was BAFTA Scotland nominated, BIFA longlisted and was selected as Best of the Fest at EIFF 2016. It has also garnered standout support from Irvine Welsh "Not one, not two but three stars are born in this beautiful movie" and Screen Daily: "Delightful...Coming-of-Age Comedy."

Directed by Philip John, Moon Dogs is, written by Derek Boyle and Raymond Friel, produced by Kathy Speirs at Clydebank Films and co-produced by Suzanne Reid alongside Dominic Wright and Jacqueline Kerrin of Dublin’s Ripple World Pictures, with the support of Creative Scotland, Ffilm Cymru Wales and Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board.
